Dolores Del Campo

Dolores Del Campo is a play that was written By the playwright and Actor Alberto Uribe in the summer of 2010, what makes this story so interesting is the fact that can be an open window for the spectator to observe   real struggles caused by real events. In this particular case the consequences behind  the strong fighting  between the rural Guerrilla and the Para-Military forces that once took place in Colombia.
As the story progresses, and when the family is trying to leave behind the scars of the past and at the same time follow a better future, the playwright is able to take the observer in to the boundaries of reality and fantasy, by mixing themes of the parable The Prodigal Son with the Athenian tragedy of Oedipus Rex. According to Uribe  all these mixtures of elements  are with the specific purpose to surprise and challenge the imagination of  the spectators.

At this moment the rights of this play are for sale

Link

Last year my friend Link Ruiz  told me  that he was going to California, because he had a good feeling about  the castings there. He also talked to me about a conversation he had with his agent who said: "If you are not a  SAG actor don't even bother". But without  thinking  twice, he left to California.
Last week I was watching the new show Kidnap and Rescue  aired every Saturday on the  Discovery Channel, and guess who was acting in  that particular episode? Yes  it was Link Ruiz. He didn't just have a very  strong scene but an extensive dialog as well.
There is nothing wrong with asking  other people for opinions, but remember to never lose your focus of what you want to do, and ultimately follow your  dreams.

Alberto's experience

It is very common for actors who are trying to make themselves known in the acting world to rely in more than one casting agent in order to get jobs. But for the Colombian Actor Alberto Uribe who resides in the city of New York the reality has been completely different.
His versatility in front of the camera and outstanding creativity as a playwright had give him the tools to make him self known in the film industry.
According to Uribe one agent is good enough "I get many calls from people in the acting business, who after seing my acting resume and personal skills invite me to participate in their castings."
"One day in particular, I received the call of a director of a movie that was being shoot, he told me they had lost their secondary actor, and I had the look needed to continue the movie. He asked me if I could get the job and I said yes.
Once on the set everything went so fast, I was properly dressed for the scene and thrown in front of the camera, when the scene ended the director was very pleased with my acting skills, and I continued working during the entire shooting of the movie Once upon of time en el Barrio" said Uribe.

Advice of an Actor

Life as an actor is never easy but hardly not fun!  The key to everything is networking. Forget talent, money, living in LA or New York, none of that is as imperative to your success as networking. Funny thing, most schools don't teach proper skills and mindsets to have in this arena. Having a good firm handshake, simple name and an awesome contact system will land you a deal bigger than anyone who spent years learning in four walled classrooms. When people think about making a movie, they first think about who will fit each role. If you are in their minds, you beat the competition. Remember, network. It will save your career.

Last casting

Last Monday I went to Universal Casting in South Beach for a casting call, after the casting I left with this sensation that I could have done things differently. In other words, I was not too comfortable with my acting in front of the camera.
One Hour later my agent called me back, she told me that I had to go back to Universal Casting for the call back. That means that I didn't do too bad after all.
Today is Tuesday  and nobody has called me back o let me know that I will do the commercial, but even if I don't get that  call, the entire experience of going to castings, the interaction  with other actors, and finally networking  with directors, are at the end a very good asset.
